When Penny was little, she would lay in bed at nap time tracing every object in her room with her eyes. She would draw them in her mind so she would never forget what they were. This drawing without pen or pencil was invaluable to the future artist.

With no formal art training and raising five children, Penny developed most of her painting techniques through trial and error, painting realistic works that would accurately capture a specific scene. However, in 2004 she was able to study for a period of time at FCCJ, now Florida State College of Jacksonville. Through her professor's guidance, Penny came to the revelation that just because she had the ability to create photo quality pieces, sometimes, artistically the viewer receives more when less is shown. It is this belief that now guides her brush strokes and artistic heart.
